Thank you to all who were able to come to our most recent cook off!
The Soup Angel was created in March 2020 during the first COVID lockdown in Melbourne to provide home cooked, healthy and nutritious soups to the elderly and others in need in the streets surrounding Nicole’s home when vulnerable people could not go to the supermarket.
During the second Melbourne lockdown, it was advertised on a few kindness social media pages in Nicole's community to anyone wanting soup including, but not limited to health care workers, frontline nurses, the elderly, sick, families doing it tough, homeless shelters, mental health organisations, those affected by the bushfires and various charities and support services.
The Soup Angel has now grown to the wider Melbourne community as well as to regional Victoria. We have over 50 Soup Angels volunteering today and as of September 2021, we have managed to deliver over 130 bowls of soup every 2 weeks to some of the most vulnerable people in Victoria!
The overwhelming community support has blown us away. From the offer of vegetables to cook with to people donating containers, volunteering as drivers and behind the scenes admin for the soups. We made an incredible amount of soup during these lockdown periods. The Soup Angel has now grown to the wider Melbourne Community as well as to regional Victoria.
Nicole started the Soup Angel with the sole aim of reaching out to some of the most vulnerable people during the Covid lockdowns. As the director of this organisation, she is a powerhouse who wants to spread the message of love and hope far and wide. When she is not making warm bowls of love and hope for those who need it the most, she is busy being the mum of two lovely boys and a teacher in school.

Hello, My name is Jo and I’ve been supporting the Soup Angel since it began in the middle of the COVID Lockdowns. When I first met Nicole I was taken by her deep concern for people in our neighbourhood living alone, unwell with no care and “doing it tough”. I was also heartened by the number of people willing to help out in some way to support the Soup Angel.
I love getting along to the cook ups when I can, and doing whatever else I can to help.
A little about me, some of my fun activities include swimming, often in the bay, hiking, cooking , wine tasting, making marmalade and preserves, cycling and singing for fun.
I believe in the Soup Angel, it’s all about everyone being looked after properly, about meeting other volunteers who live locally and having fun along the way.
I hope to see The Soup Angel grow, attract more volunteers and reach out to more people.
"A big shout out to Nicole and all her team for the tremendous job they do in our community. They’ve been a big support to me and my girls and I can’t thank them enough. Nicole’s passion and dedication to The Soup Angel is inspiring and I know she has helped countless also.
Continued success and again, thank you for all that you do." - Toni
"I met Nicole through a friend and was immediately offered support from her. I felt she could just tell that I somehow needed it and was going through a rough time with financial pressures and life as a single mum. Not only has she checked to see if I’m ok but each time, Nicole delivers beautiful soups from her Soup Angel charity with bread, veggies and other grocery items. I broke down in tears at first. I couldn’t believe that this could be true, it feels like an Angel is actually watching over me at times. Not only has Soup Angel’s support got me through some very difficult times where I didn’t have enough to feed my children, it has also given me hope and helped my anxiety a great deal. I am eternally grateful for the kindness and the beautiful way that this support is given to me when I most needed it. It just shows the depth of compassion that we still have in our society today."
"I have no words to express my deep gratitude for the soup Angels, my brother was going through very challenging times, with cancer treatments. The soup Angel's through Nicole Lewis Jacob's and the wonderful volunteers, delivered delicious nutritional soups to him, he was very grateful. Sadly he passed away a few weeks ago. But you made his last months very supported and loved. Thank you from all my heart."
